Am I better to get a separate looper pedal for live performance instead of trying to use the Timeline looper?

I can get the small Boss looper pedal for between $125-$150, and the double one for between $150-$200. About the same as the dedicated midi pedal. I am not limiting myself to just Boss. Could also get the JamMan pedals...

Any thoughts? If the separate looper is better, which one of those is best?

How long do you need the loops to be?

the advantages of the Boss and Digitech loopers are stored loops that you can pre-record and store.
if you just need a live looper, i think the Timeline would do the trick.

What about ease of use and different delays while looping?

Does using the TL looper make you want another delay on board?

Is the main use of the midi pedal "looper funtions" and if so why not just get a looper pedal and have all the extras with the dedicated pedal? Plus being able to switch the delay easily while using the looper.

Same money or more fore the TL midi, same space on board, much less looper functionality, limited delay options...

Do you need midi sync? I don't think there are any boss pedals that have implemented that very well.

I bought an RC-3 shortly before the TL. Have since sold it. But I don't really need to save loops or loop for 3 hours.
