I am so pumped about the Timeline update. I love it, but now I am itching for the Eventide Space update.

Anybody got some insider info/speculation as to when this update will be released?

Any info as to all of the features being updated? (besides the freeze function)

What would you really like to see updated?

Thanks guys.

The announcement in their newsletter was "January" ... but we're a bit past that now. I Tweeted @ them yesterday. No response yet.

What don't you like about the SPACE? I think it's pretty awesome as is!

  1. The Space is pretty conservative, I think. The "crazy" stuff isn't really that crazy. Could use more depth on mangledverb and blackhole.
  2. The 'spill' function isn't that good.
  3. The modulation (especially on ModEchoVerb) is weak.
  4. Limited 'infinite' options. Though they're fixing this, apparently.
  5. The shimmer algo has a few issues IMO. It doesn't mix high enough (sounds too far behind the dry signal) and I don't like how pitchy it is.
  6. The digital conversion can be annoying at times.
  7. I've got some beef w/ the EQ controls on a few algos. Could just be me though.

i agree completely.
i've justified keeping the Space for it's necessity in the studio, but i've heard sooo much more praise about Eventide's dedicated rack units and how much better they sound. $$$.

i'd probably be willing to go the BSR & WET route if i had an Eventide plug-in thingy for my PC.

I disagree completely on 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7. It can easily get crazy, and some of the artist presets easily demonstrate that. Spill is just fine as far as I am concerned, modulation is excellent and get get quite deep (unless you are asking for DMM seasickness extremities) and the digital conversion is also fine (what makes you say it isn't? if you are concerned sometimes about the high content, it belongs to the wet part and not the dry, plus you can balance it by not cranking the wet, or eq it to the last bit). The EQ capabilities are also so deep that you can easily miss some.

I am actually curious about any firmware updates... have any bugs been reported at the Eventide forum?

I agree with Crash on points 6 & 7. Re point 6 I don't know if its the D/A converters or the filters, but I can tell it imparts a slight digital sound which takes some of the warmth out of my tone.

All reasons why I had to drop mine. I know they're working on an update to allow"freeze" is every algo, but to me, it seems that there are some fundamental issues with the pedal that aren't going to get addressed any time soon.

Echo on the reverse reverb isn't synced properly.

At NAMM (2/19), they told me "hope to have the beta up next week". Obviously; that hasn't happened, but he was aware of numerous complaints that mirrored crxsh's and said they were working towards those in an official update, post beta.

Who'd you talk to?

I think we've had this conversation before. And it's fine that you disagree, but I stand by my opinions.

The Space is a great option for people who want unparalleled control in a stompbox-based reverb... but there are issues that I'm hoping they correct.

In any case, a good company takes into consideration all requests - within reasonable limits, assuming that it is within their capabilities, and taking care not to implement changes that will please some users and displease others. Quite a delicate position, as a matter of fact...
