I currently have an original BJFE HBOD honeybee that I use for low gain overdrive. I am looking for another pedal to stack get a nice medium gain sound. What should I use to get the ultimate stack sound? Should I get rid of the HBOD and get the timmy and klon or keep it and stack it with something else? Which order works the best? VOTE!

Does the timmy make a good medium gain overdrive when you do hbod > timmy?

I'm sure any of them will work fine. Just use what's best for you, not someone else.

Timmy IS a medium gain overdrive when you turn the drive knob up. Timmy is a great boost pedal, but the more you increase the gain, it overdrives sweetly. A lot of folks like to stack other drives with the Timmy to get their main drive sound because it can be so transparant and make a stiff, gritty dirt box get really juicy. I found it worked great after a Fulltone GT-500, MXR Badass 78, and a Barber Dirty Bomb, for both a lead boost or a great stacked heavy gain sound. I never much liked it being 1st in the chain, due to the treble control working so well after another distortion to remove any shrillyness.

I have now replaced all of those drives, and several others, since getting turned on to the Spaceman Aphelion Overdrive. This pedal is my one and only drive now, it's simply amazing. Timmy is still on the board to kick in for solo boosts, as it's still hard to beat for that. If Spaceman ever comes out with another boost pedal though...

+1. I've tried all those stacks except klon+hbod (didn't try them at the same time). They're all good.

I liked hbod into timmy best.

I recently got a Sunny Bee, and stacked into the Timmy it really sounds wonderful. Together they can get a low to medium gain sound that is very harmonically rich. and very touch sensitive. The Bee into the Timmy makes great sounds that I can't duplicate with a single pedal. This combination works very well and is super versatile.

Have had a Timmy, Klone, and a HBOD. HBOD + Timmy was my favorite for sure. I'm actually going back to that setup soon, my favorite stacking combination ever.

i like the HBOD into a Timmy. i run the Timmy for a nice rhythm sound and the HBOD adds some nice grit for solos and raunchy rock and roll stuff.

    Klon --> Timmy.

Klon: all knobs set to 11.
Timmy: EQ set to sound approx. like my amp, and gain about 9-11.

So does the Klon > Timmy or HBOD > Timmy combo sound better?

To those who do klon > timmy, do you leave timmy on as your low gain drive and then kick on the klon for medium gain or do you leave the klon on as your low drive then kick on the timmy?

You should let people know what amp and guitars you use as that piece of info is quite important. I use Fender amps and swear by the Honey Bee- Klone combo. Fender amps benefit from a bit of mid boosting though so those pedals are really nice for that amp platform. YMMV. For example, the Timmy completely sucked with my rig.

Im using a vox ac15 blue celestions with a gretch duo jet 6128.

Im leaning forward to hbod > timmy or klon > timmy. Just wondering if I should leave the timmy on and then kick on the other drive or the other way around.

I believe the Timmy is liked by people with Vox amps. The Klon or Klone seems to work with almost everything.

I personally have Bearfoot DRD into Timmy into Klon Clone using a Matchless Chieftain 1x12 with mostly a Tele and a Strat. Sounds AWESOME!
I run the timmy at about 11 oclock on the gain, volume at unity, bass and treble to taste. I use the Klone as a lead boost with the gain around 10 oclock, tone around 10-11 oclock and volume to taste depending on the boost you want. ( I usuall run it around 12 oclock)
I run the DRD with gain around 9 oclock, volume at unity and tone to taste.
    LOVE this combo!
