I just saw a picture of this in another thread. DOes anyone have any specs for this thing? I'm especially curious as to what kind of pickup situation is going on at the bridge.

the guitar actually belongs to mike campbell, tom's lead guitarist. he played it live on several tours in the 80s. there are clips on youtube. he played in on 'you got lucky', employing the bigsby for the spaghetti western vibrato.

    I posted that picture.

I thought it was Tom's just because i keep seeing a video of him playing it.

My bad. Still a dreamy axe haha!

Isn't it a standard sort of Tele pickup?

I'm sure. I figure guys like TP and Campbell don't really have to mess around with aftermarket too much, being that it's a vintage tele, I'm sure it's got its original pup in there.

I figured with the buckers in it that the bridge pup might have been some weird concoction.

Between Campbell and Petty they have quite an extensive collection.

Their rehearsal studio is basically an instrument/amp museum from what I've seen.

There's a guy (a young guy) named Griffin Black who built a clone of Red Dog. He got to meet Campbell and Petty, and I think his clone was played on stage at one of their concerts. He may have some info on the specs on his website - http://web.me.com/gtblack/Building_My_Telecaster/Home.html. The story was picked up by NPR, the Washington Post and a few others.

From the picture in this thread, I would think Fiesta under poly. Could be Dakota.
