Can you help me with listing the top boost pedals, Transparency is important to me.

I am on the list to get a King Of Tone, Analogman - Pedal.

From what I can tell, the KOT is similar to a boost pedal. All of you that have tried a KOT and other boost pedals please chime in and save me from trying all the pedals out there. That would make my wife very happy:AOK

Basically I want to hit the front end of the amp harder for more natural gain w/out changing the natural sound of my amp.

Disclaimer I am not sure that a KOT is in the boost pedal category just an assumption of mine from the clips I have heard.

    Peace

From what I understand, Keeley Katana is the way to go as far a clean boosts go. A cheaper alternative would be Fulltone Fat Boost or EHX LBP1.

The Tim/Timmy is killer as is the Katana. I'd stay away from the RC Boost as I found it sterile.

Or you can buy my KOT in the emporium ;)

Rockett Boost - Very transparent, Hi-Fi, but expensive.

RC Booster. I've owned a ton of them. This was the most transparent out of any of them. 2nd would be the Katana.

Lizard Leg The Flying Dragon. Very lean, articulate, cuts in the mix. Only 13dB of boost, but believe me you don't need any more with this guy.

Def the ThroBak Overdrive/Boost. It is by far the best booster ever made. Its a clone of the Colorsound Overdriver. It not only boosts your signal but it broadens it. it just gives it a whole new dimension. it really is an awsome pedal. An old fav of David Gilmour and Jeff Beck

    RC boost. Awesome. Very transparent.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Timmy CAN boost if needed, but isn't it more of an OD pedal?

Best one I have had is the Creation Audio Labs MK 4.23. Simply amazing boost for tube amps!!! That said I did like the boost side of the KOT also. An inexpensive solution is to grab a Boss-GE-7 and play around with it. You'll be amazed at what you can do with it if you take the time.

Just a suggestion or two, good luck!!

the most transparent i've played are the katana and the timmy. my lead player loves his caitlinbread for transparency also (it's a mini one. . . name? . . . . DK). all three are more transparent than the KOT, by the way. . . which i do love also.

+1 on the Bad Bob. I've had one on my board for 4 years running. It's perfect.

The best boost pedals to me are:

    Bob Burt Boost
    Durham Sexdrive
    PE Germ

In that order. The Burt Boost is really unique.

Clean boost would not be what you want to push the amp, as you may get lot of rumbling bass frequencies: treble or mid boost may be a better choice to me for this kind of application.

That said, i use a Cornish NB2 as clean boost and i recently got a TrebleTool by Paul Lenders too: if you're after a very mean tone these should be considered imho.

RC Boost - Just got this as my first boost and was very impressed. Can get a perfectly transparent boost. The treble and bass controls are very "amp like" to me and usable in both directions. And finally the gain is smooth and warm and adds just a little fatness on up to a nice little grind. gives you alot in one pedal - and foremost, a great clean boost.
