Look how old Cruise appears even in the trailer.

    5 points.

The original “theme” was way better.

I didn’t know that was Steve Stevens.

Was he trying to sound like Satriani?

How much money did Harold Faltermeyer make in the 80’s?

How much money did Loggins make?!?

Crazy that people say a Top Gun sequel is creatively bankrupt. There are all sorts of places they can take this story...shirtless football, shirtless basketball, shirtless bowling. All sorts of sports you can play without a shirt.

I want to see a reboot of Risky Business, where we see Tom as an aging pimp.

Apparently his Faustian contract with the devil has expired.

I was pretty jazzed by the trailer, even with its overt pandering to nostalgia.

For those of you wondering what Val Kilmer’s been up to, head over to Reddit. He’s done a number of Ask Me Anything threads, and is quite popular due to his candor and humor.

It's too bad Siskel & Ebert aren't around to review the sequel, but at least we'll always have their critique of the first film:

"Movies like Top Gun are hard to review because the good parts are so good and the bad parts are so relentless. The dogfights are absolutely the best since Clint Eastwood's electrifying aerial scenes in Firefox. But look out for the scenes where the people talk to one another."

Or, how about a Color of Money remake where he plays the Paul Newman role..... perhaps Eric Clapton can write a few songs for the soundtrack.

It went thru a few directors as well if I recall correctly. Most famously Tony Scott who was reportedly scouting locations with Cruise just days before he jumped off a bridge.
