This was TOPS when I was a kid. When I watched later, I caught how much recycled aerial footage there was across the whole movie. I applaud the lengths they went to while filming, but I can't not see that. Still good drama when it comes to the flight and dogfight scenes. I had full intention of joining the Navy as an aviator, until I realized I was never going to hit the height requirement. The F-14 still lives in a very special place for me due to this movie. But in today's political world (we don't have one huge arch enemy), and have less vested interest in the F-18 or maybe other platforms... I just wonder where this can lead that it will be interesting. Movies like True Lies shifted from Soviet enemies to terrorist threats as the main protaganist. Selling movies overseas is far too important to name China as the baddie now. So then it's got to be some rogue nation? Stolen planes? etc. It's all about where they take the plot with this one, and the trailer doesn't really say.
