Just have to say, I love this amp !!! Its got a Blue and a heritage H greeny in there.. Also a couple of NOS tubes.. Man this thing is a keeper.. Set the treble at 11oclock and let the mid control do it all... I had a Royale back a few years ago and always wanted to try a Deluxe... I have to say this.. I like this thing a lot more.. I know I am going to spark an argument here but " what can I say ":... Sorry about the rant...

Nice! Tophats are simply amazing amps. What guitars are you playing through it? What kinds of music, etc.?

I am still amazed by the tone of my CR 2x12 combo...

A PRS McSoapy and a strat... Tonal heaven.. Its much rounder sounding than the Royale.. Lots more bass and bottom end.. Its in the same old 212 9.5 inch cab that the Royale was in... By the way the Royale was a 2000 with the recto switch.. This one has a tube...

love mine too.... i really like that you can swap in EL34s, 6L6s or 6V6s without rebiasing! At first I was really hesitant to swap tubes, but Brian @ TopHat assured me the amp is designed and biased to do it.... Haven't tried 6V6's yet, but probably will soon. i'm using new production TungSol 6L6s in mine with a 12AY7 in the first pre-amp position and am really digging it. For a while I was using a 12AX7 in V1 and I really liked it but prefer the fuller sound and higher clean headroom of the 12AY7. Using a 12AX7 with EL34s sounds pretty damn good though.....

my speaker config is a 12H30 and a Vintage 30. i'm throwing around the idea of replacing the V30 with a Celestion Blue or Weber Blue.....

here's a pic of mine (kinda crappy pic).....

    Hey welcometoashley,
I think the op has the old "Deluxe" model rather than the newer "Superdeluxe." I don't think that she or he can change tubes in that amp.

i definitely miss having a tube rectifier on the Super Deluxe.... I haven't tried the Club Deluxe like what you have but thought the Club Royale sounded great....

    I hear ya !

I've got a couple of the older TopHat Embassy models;which are
powered by 4 6V6's and have the same preamp as your Club Deluxe,
but also has a simpler Vol and Tone Channel that is derived from an
early 60's Brown Face Fender Deluxe .

Some of the best tones I've ever had .

Club Deluxe is awesome, I've got a 2006 now with tube rec, had a 2001 SS rec both were killer. Embassy is like the Club Deluxe's long lost daddy! :D

To clarify though, the Club Deluxe is and always has been ~20 w with 2x6V6. The SUPER Deluxe, started in '03 with 6L6 and 33w, could run 6V6 safely, and soon after introduction was modified to accept EL34s as well. The Vanderbilt 33 can also run those three tube types.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I heard that the Club Deluxe was no longer being made, that the Vandy and SD had bumped it?

Anyway, congrats on a great amp, which one you gonna try next? :D

PS try hitting with a fuzz and/or a TIM, great match for that amp....
