Something like 6k. But that was mainly in high school. I figured once I got into the real world I'd have to start using my money to pay for bills and stuff, so I tried to get it out of my system. It's worked... sometimes.

Once in a blue moon my band would get a paying gig, but since we've broken up, no income from playing guitar.

about $1200 in pedals,maybe $2000 in guitars, about he same in amps and cabs, and I have an old marshall kit I've been collecting NOS parts for which is a big ticket item, so I'm well over $5000 all in, maybe over $6000.

I make money gigging, but not tons. I've owned much of this gear for a while so it just helps justify the odd purchase here and there, pays for strings etc...

you didn't mention studio gear like mics, monitors, converters..., many of us are probably in for at least another few grands with all that stuff as well, I know I am.

Conservatively, I'm just North of $50k. $15k in amps, $25k in guitars, $12k+ in Pedals, Mics and PA.

I do make a modest income from gigging 40-50 dates a year.

I bought my Danelectro Bass for 120.00 at GC used, bought my Ashdown 115 used for 250.00 on craigslist and payed 50.00 for my Bass Big Muff. I make good money playing music and could afford "better" equipment, but would rather spend my money on other stuff.
For years I bought and traded guitars/amps/effects, but after awhile it just seemed pointless. I found stuff that I like, modified it to my liking, and just keep it running.

I have a little north of $10,000 invested in all my gear. I included all my PA and midi set-up in the mix. I was gigging as a solo act with all the stuff and made decent money ($200 a night) but moving all that on my own got to be too much so I just jam in my basement. I will be doing some open mic stuff now that I got a Fender G-Dec 3-30 because of it's portability.
