Playing at home today I noticed I had to stand in the 'sweet spot' when EQing my amp. Any close and it would become too bassy for my tastes and any further away it would become too trebly. Why is this? simply because treble frequencies cut better therefore standout more when further away?

Does this mean live, the people at the front will be getting hammered by bass and those further away cut up with treble?

    Cheers :)

yep different rooms and different parts of rooms will sound different - also where you place the amp in the room can change the sound

As you move farther away, you're hearing more of the on axis sound which is brighter.
