ok, what would it do with a clean sound like message in a bottle - the police?
My sound is kind of like that. but when I pick hard it sorta breaks up. (im playing a mahogany strat. would I get like a Brian May type sorta or would I get a britle slightly driven tone? or would I get a beefy od?

Check out scott's crispy creme at treblebooster.com This pedal was made to cop brian may tones, and the clips on the site sound good.

Yep - I agree. Using a Treble Booster in that way will make you wonder why anyone would use one, but if you use it to drive a good tube amp over the edge you will understand.
They aren't meant to be used that way, and they don't have a range of sounds.
A better choice with some versatilty would probably be something like :-
    1. Throbak's Overdrive Boost.
    2. Pharoah Amp's Germanium Tone Engine (look on the Pedalgeek site).
    Hope that helps

Run it into another good OD pedal and you'll get closer to what you want to hear. I run a Hellbilly set as a treble booster into a Timmy and I can see BrianMayland from my pedalboard...

Perhaps look at the Lovepedal Eternity - a great overdrive w/ a treble boost circuit built in... http://lovepedal.com/

It's funny, I always hear treble boosters are supposed to be used to boost an amp on the edge of breakup to over the top, blah, blah, blah...

I use it with a clean amp, and always have. And I think it sounds great with my strat, and my hollowbody, and works pretty well with my SG also. I NEVER play high-gain, so for me this just adds some fullness and a little bark. I use an Analogman Beano Boost and keep it on the "mid" boost setting. For what it's worth.

imho, if you are running the beano boost on the "mid" setting, you are not "using" a treble booster--you're using a mid booster!. And yes, treble boosters into clean amps usually sound awful.
