I thought it might be cool to throw out cool little facts about bands or artists. Any genre, any time frame............

I'll start with Toto. They did the soundtrack for the movie "Dune". Brian Eno also wrote the main theme song.

    Whatcha got???

Don McLean's "American Pie" was nominated for the Song of the Year Grammy in 1974, but lost to Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly With His Song". That song was written by Lori Leiberman the year before- about Don McLean.

Was based on the changes from Softly As A Morning Sunrise and was recorded by Chet Atkins, whose rendition was the one The Ventures heard.

I read that Stephen Stills came up with and played the famous Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" riff. When you hear it with that knowledge, it's not too far-fetched.

Bob Dylan's son Jakob, at four years old, was present for the Minneapolis recording of Blood on the Tracks in late '74. Dylan and his wife were divorcing, and Jakob was with his father at the time and consequentially in the studio for the whole thing. I wonder if he remembers any of it?

Art Garfunkel sang many of Crosby's harmonies on Daylight Again because Crosby was too messed up.

With settlement money he won from the Lennon estate, Julian Lennon buys back his father's items that Yoko puts on auction. He grew up on fixed income; his mother received nothing more from Lennon than enough for groceries, clothes, and schooling. Nevertheless, he got bullied at school for being a rich kid.

Paul McCartney has an original Picasso in one of the bathrooms of his home.

According to Pamela Des Barre's book, George Harrison once got pleasured by a woman at a party and played a ukelele the whole time.

Ringo Starr had regular sexual relations with Lennon's Aunt Mimi. Just kidding.

I'm pretty certain that the lyrics "No beer, Cavalier!" in 'It's the End of the World as We Know It' by REM is about a school that I used to go to.

It's a private Catholic high school with a Cavalier for a mascot.

Supposedly, two of the band's members got kicked out of the school for getting caught drinking beer on the campus.
