    Hi Everybody,

Well just like the title says. I need a smoking tube screamer. Something that can be boosted for leads to make them really shine, also something to add hair to the chords. This would be used through a DSL JCM 2000 and a hot rodded plexi style head. I sure this topic has been discussed here ad nauseam but I would really appreciate everyone's suggestions

    Thanks

A friend of mine uses the Rodenberg GAS-728, and the combination of clean boost and modded tubescreamer works really well.

Forget Tube Screamers, get a Fulltone OCD.

I always thought the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 was a TS on steroids. I love the switchable gain boost. The newest version has the FM / Vinatge / Comp cut / Mosfet / standard switches.

    Stormin!

    +1

And make sure to run it at 12V!

Menatone Blue Collar!; exactly your description- Brian Mena makes some very sweet pedals at reasonable prices.

I think think Unabender makes a fine point - the OCD would fit the bill nicely as well...

My Keely TS9 is great and has more gain available. He also makes it where that tone knob actually does something.

Aside from the usual mods, I added a second switch on one of my clones that would increase the feedback resistance of the second opamp stage adjustable with a pot that kicks up the gain and output level to beyond
    "steroids".
it will push any amp into killer overdriven sounds.

I 2nd the vote for the Abunai 2 from Tone Freak. Great pedals! Naked OD is awesome too, but more of a Marshall-in-a-box sound. The Abunai2 is a better Tube Screamer.

Totally blown away by the Keeley modded Ibanez TS 808. I owned several original TS 808's and the Keeley mods really improves on that classic pedal. Other pedals that I owned and sold again: Zen Drive, Klon, Blackstone, Tonebone Classic, Keeley Java Boost, Keeley Katana Boost, Barber Tonepump, BK Butler Tube Driver, Divided by 13 Dynaranger and diverse BSM boosters. The Keeley 808 is my keeper, followed by the Divided by 13 Dynaranger and two BSM boosters.

Sorry to offend anyone, but had a Keeley TS-9...bypass didn't work well...sucked tone when off. :(

Both RC Booster or OCD work well on and off. Xotic and Fulltone are good stuff. :AOK

Either the Keeley, the Fulltone OCD or FullDrive 2...all will get you to where you need to be with the OCD being the most aggressive IMHO.
