Well, if we're going to be really specific, it was a Blues Jr. modded with a Swamp Thang and low gain JJ's, not a Pro Jr. ;) Good times!

Aaron, thanks for having us into your home. I had a great time! You've got a pretty amazing collection of pedals there, and that PRS rosewood played like a dream (wanna sell it?? - kidding). Love that Top Hat amp too!

Miller and Ryan, father and son, a family of tone. How cool is that? Great to meet you guys. Ryan, you have the best sounding Blues Jr I've ever heard.

We should try to do this on a somewhat regular basis. Hopefully the next time we get together I'll have a few more goodies to bring to the party. :)

Any comments? I'm particularly interested what drive pedals you liked with the Club Royale.

Tell me more about the SwapThang mod, and all you have done to this amp, that sounds like a cool deal.

    Thanks.

So sorry Ryan, I’ve edited the list now. And yes, it is a great sounding little amp. I can’t wait till you get it modded to the Lightning circuit! (that’s the one you’re doing right?)

Well I dig all of my OD's with the CR. I don't agree with a lot of guy's that think it's not so hot with ODs. I think some don't like the way it compresses and "assimilates" the pedal. I WANT that... it disallows the pedal to take over the tone.

To answer your question, my favorite drive pedals with the CR are
    #1. Eternity, truly incredible
#2. Tonebone Classic, extremely versatile and clear yet fat at the same time.
#3. Keeley RAT, a nice raunchy lead tone.

BTW I normally play through the amp clean. If it has a little grit my fav is still the Eternity, followed by the Rx Overdriver (like a Colorsound Overdriver).

The Mod: I just changed out the stock (read: fugly) speaker with an Emi Swamp Thang. Vast improvement. It's sounding better every time I play it, now that it's getting well broken in. The JJ's I got from eurotubes.com, the low gain set that he matches up and all that jazz. Also an improvement. That BJ is a great little amp!

Eventually, maybe. But at that point I would have spent enough to get a Dr. Z almost. I'd like to keep the BJ as a backup and upgrade to a Maz18, but that'll be a while...

Now that I've got him off of the Line6 gear, yes!

What I'm finding is that boosters and very light OD works better since the amp compresses so much on its own.

    Thanks.
