Hi Folks,

What is the difference electronically between the bright and normal channels? I have a replica and they are not sounding too different. Thanks!!

The bright channel has a bypass capacitor between the input and wiper/ output on it’s volume pot. If the channels sound the same, the cap may have been removed. Bright caps are pretty noticeable, yours should be a 100pF I think.

This from Rob Robinette’s site:
the only difference between the 5F6A Normal and Bright channels is the bright cap on the bright volume pot which bypasses high freqs around the volume pot at low volume levels. At max volume there is no difference between the Normal and Bright channels.

The 5F6A's bright cap is very small at 100pF (pico Farad).

Good Q&A. I've wondered this about my Richter RS33 combo. Big jump in treble on ch2.
