I just got my hands on a new American Telecaster, which has the Twisted Tele neck pickup. I never got along with traditional Tele neck pickups, so this Twisted thingy was a big draw.

I did some direct recording, which of COURSE doesn't sound like a nice blackface amp, but I'm not about to mic up my amps and piss off my neighbors.

    Signal chain:

    Tele > Tech 21 GT2 > Preamp > Interface

Sloppy playing, but you get the idea. To my ears, it's a very Stratty tone. It's not 100% Strat, but it's more my taste than a regular Tele neck sound.

Thats a good way to describe it, stratty. I have one in my Baja and love it, it adds to the chime in the parallel position, isn't muddy in the series position, I dont have to always mess with my tone control when switching pups, and with the tone and/or volume rolled back a bit its still in tele neck pup territory.
