I searched high and low for a thread strictly for owners of these early model Two Rock amps but could not find one specific to what I am looking for. I am basically trying to find out exactly what serial number that K & M started out with on their Emerald 50 line. I read an article that was written by Joe in guitar amp magazine that had quite a bit of info about the lineage of the early Two Rock amps, but not specifics on the serial numbers. I was told somewhere that the first EM 50 off the line was # 100 and the article made it sound like the first EM 50, Sapphire 100, and Amethyst Specials were made specifically for Indoor Storm. I bought mine from Indoor Storm in 2000 or 2001 serial #103.

Any info or even those of you with EM 50's that want to chime in with your serial #'s would be helpful and appreciated!!

I used to own Serial #201.

Had sent it into Two Rock for a mod back in 2006, which involved replacing the transformers and bringing the amp up to 100 watts. I preferred the bigger soundstage. Overall, a cool amp, but I eventually phased it out for a Bludotone Bluesmaster. Not looking back, either.

I have #122, which is an Amethyst Special head. Right now sounds way better with an AT7 in V2, too grainy otherwise. Tons of low frequency EQ to my ears on this one.

Cool, #122 is the earliest I have heard besides mine. I just bought a Jet yesterday as a 'back-up' for the Em 50, and the guy that sold me the Jet also had a J-2, Eric Gales, and a K&M custom. He was curious about the early TR models so I brought the EM50 over so he cool plug in. He put his LP into the lead channel and was floored. I bet he has the Gales and the custom up for sale soon so he can get himself an Emerald!!

I don't see why not! Those Emy Pros are awesome too!! Still want to see if there is anyone here who has a lower serial # than mine.

There's a guy on here selling EM 50 #202 right now.

Thanks for the resources. The last one did have some info that shed some light on what era my Emerald 50 is. Apparently the very early or 'first gen' 50's did not have the series/parallel loop switch...mine does, so it must not be one of the first. However, there are several noted 50's that are in the 200's, so maybe they started at #1 again with the Emerald Pro's...?

I had #208,50w, sold it a long time ago to get an Opal. It had huge clean headroom, series/parallel switched loop.

This is the wrong place for that, you need to post for sale items in the Emporium. This is a discussion thread.

    Hi.

I have serial #205 Emerald 50. Weird amp with no bypass, but with Mid switch and internal gain boost. Chad says its a one-of-a-kind Bill amp. Has the series/parallel switch. Beast of an amp.

I just got #202 off the forum. Thanks Pete (Faracaster). Great amp, and a great guy to deal with. Would buy from him anytime.

I love the two rock cleans. I wonder if these will be considered classics one day. The new ones also sound great.

So my Two Rock started life as a Emerald 50. It is serial #163. After I bought it I sent pics to Two Rock and they said they had worked on it and made it closer to a Custom Reverb. I have always wondered what it sounded like originally!!! Incredible Cleans on this one!! Here is a couple pics, you can see where they covered up the emerald and colored in the d in emerald!
