For a coverband situation. I know it does the high gain thing better than most amps on the planet, but is a practical amp for playing clean, crunch and high gain? Is it too dark?

The prices are really down on some craigslist ads and GC used section and am considering trying one out.

Thanks

Wonder if the soft prices are related to the imminent release of the Bogner pedals, including an Uberschall one.

The gain side is kind of one trick. The gain knob doesnt affect the sweep of gain as much as it does saturation and thickness. It's very gainy all the way down. Guitar volume on a guitar that has good roll of is affective though so you can tame the gain that way.
I think the clean side is great. A little on the dark side but fat and punchy. I would buy one for 1200 all day. Paid more than that for mine and I feel it was a good value.
