UPS shipping fiasco

Are there any decent shippers for electric guitars!!!? I just send a tele to a guy in Texas by UPS Ground (insured for $1050) and UPS "delivered it" to his patio this afternoon--the patio of an apartment building. No signature, no nothing. No surprise that he didn't get the guitar.

By the way, UPS customer service says I didn't request signature service. I had to fill out the shipping label at a UPS Customer Center computer and though I was given the option for value/insurance, I never say any question about getting a signature. I would assume that is a given! WTF?:BITCH

These same bozos recently left a $5000 wind instrument leaning up against the mailbox post...the box is at a busy intersection, is separated from the yard by a heavily-travelled sidewalk, and isn't even visible from the house, nor is the house visible from the box. The ultimate irony? We were all home. No knock, no ring, no nothing. Mucking forons.

Oh, man. That stinks, Rob. Do you get it in the end? (I hope there was a happy ending.)

Logic suggests that had Rob not received the package, he would not have known it was left leaning against the mailbox post...

It's not just Brown. Fed Ex delivered a guitar to me yesterday. The driver leaned the box up against the door jamb, rang the bell, and ran off to their next delivery. Never did see them, just the back of the truck as it peeled off.

whew, I'm supposed to get an Edwards GoldTop from FedEx tomorrow and I'm staying home all day to sign for it......

What is wrong with shippers anyway??? Sadly, I've had better luck using the Postal Service!

TD, In addition to waiting for it, I would also suggest you keep looking out the window. I've had FedEx just drop packages and not even ring--even when I thought I would have to sign for them.

Personatech, thanks for pointing out the logical conclusion of the Rob story. I guess I was too upset about my UPS experience to think that through. Duh on me!
