I've often expected an item to be delivered on a certain day, but all I get that day is a pile of junk mail. The following day I get a handful of actual mail and the item I was expecting. I have no idea how the process works and I don't know if this is realistic, but I wonder: Do mail carriers sometimes decide that they'll deliver only junk mail on a certain day because it's easier not to deliver the real mail as well?

It's on Tuesday where I live. Sometimes a "real" piece of mail but mostly junk on Tuesdays.

I believe they prefer to call it "bulk" mail.

I made the mistake of throwing out all the unmarked envelopes on junk mail day, and I found out later on that I threw out two or three ATM cards in the fodder.

Interesting - today is Tuesday. A semi-vacation day at the P.O.?

I think of it as "sad-waste-of-trees" mail.

I suggest the public decides on one day a month to mark all junk mail "return to sender" and put it back in a public mailbox. Maybe USPS will get the hint after a year of that!

USPS is in such a bad state, that if it weren't for junk mail, they'd go out of business. I'm sure of that.
