I'm wanting to take my wife on a tropical vacation this year. Looking at the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico area. I want something all inclusive, safe, eye pleasing and fun. Something with excursions would be a plus.

What have you done? What would you do again?

Not all inclusive but it dont have to be.
Food is good and cheap enough

St. Maartin. The Divi Little Bay.
Eye pleasing? Try the french side.

Some good nude beaches as well tucked away on both sides.

A little further than she would want on her first plane ride. I would love it.

A cruise might be good way to sample several locations.

That's a possibility we have considered.

British Virgin Islands are great, notably Virgin Gorda. Uncrowded, beautiful, not ridiculously expensive, great snorkeling, safe, and the native population are very accommodative and happy to see you, unlike the tension that exists on some others I've been to.

Richard Branson has his own island retreat there.

I would suggest somewhere like the Bahamas or Virgin Islands but nothing compares to Maui, maybe Tahiti but I've never been there.

Cruising is great for people who like to eat, loaf and drink/gamble/see shows. They have nice destinations and you get a taste of what's available on the route. You'll hate it if you're prone to seasickness or golfing.

I LOVE JAMAICA. Stay on resort, but don't fear the locals. Sun. fun. Repeat daily.

Same here, although we've never stayed at an all inclusive. We hang out in Negril and mix it up with the locals pretty often. There is a vibe to Jamaica that some people get and some don't. I hate to use the word organic, but yeah, organic.

    Aruba.

Close...direct flights from many places in the states.

    Water...clean and drinkable.

Food...lots of good food to eat all over the island.

Plenty to do...from renting Jeeps and driving around the sand dunes to skydiving to fishing to snorkeling to sitting on your butt on the beach or at the pool. Plenty I left out as well.

You can go all inclusive but I'd recommend not...plenty of good restaurants and bars to visit.

People are friendly and it's really pretty safe.

Highly recommend Aruba for a tropical vacation!

I didn't visit Hawaii until I was in my 40s. I regret that. It's worth the extra mileage.
