1. The Gear Page is run by musicians for musicians. We listen, we learn and if we misstep we are not afraid to do the right thing. We proposed some changes to the Emporiums. Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

Notice how "I'm The One" has liquid paper over what was "Show Your Love".

If it wasn’t this day, it was within days: a Firebird/Camaro/Mustang/‘Cuda, nursed around our high school’s half circle drive, Eruption blasting, then transitioning into You Really Got Me. Everyone stopped and listened as the hammer-ons started. Jesus.

Should be a religious holiday for guitarists.

I'll never forget hearing Eruption and wondering what the hell just happened.

I've told this boring story way too many times, but I was about 11 years old and I'll never forget my Uncle cranking Running With the Devil as we pulled into the Dairy Queen parking lot. He later took me to The Shoppe in Berea Ohio and bought me the album.

Yep. I heard "You really got me" on the radio and went and bought the vinyl record.

Got it home and put it on my dad's stereo.

Eruption came on and my dad said the hammer-on part was a keyboard. I believed it was too.

I had heard "You really got me" the night before on the local Rock FM station. The DJ said it was a remake of a KInks song...but didn't remember ever hearing Original at that time. Within a few days was at record shop...used to finger the albums 3-4 times a week in those days! Saw VanHalen album cover, thought the Cover was Bad-ass and brought it home. "Running with the devil".. wow. Eruption, "What the Hell was that?" Rest of the album played front to end! I had been playing guitar for about a year, Inspired!

The only other thing I can compare it to since is the Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" record insert in Guitar Player Magazine. Both where IMMEDIATE. New I was hearing something earth shattering.....

"The Atomic Punk", probably my fave VH. I'm no huge fan anymore, but I cranked their first album every morning in the shower for a summer, and that's my song from that album. It's as ass-kicking as it gets.

I guess everybody here has heard the ISO guitar clips excerpts supposedly from the master of RWTD ?

One's a mic'ed up Celestion speaker and the other is a JBL.

If you take these tracks into your DAW and blend them, it's mind blowing.

I was just starting out around that time. Hearing both him and Randy, I thought to myself, my god, there ain't no way.

Everything went up by an order of magnitude with those guys, if you lived in SoCal around that time.

I was in kindergarten at the time as cool as it would be to say I was jamming to this when it came out but I wasn't!

Didn't discover it until about 10 years later. It was the last Roth era album I bought because it was actually hard to find at the time. I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing and didn't understand why nobody wasn't playing these songs on the radio at the time. Definitely a Classic.

And VH has gone downhill ever since.

It changed everything. I was a slight few years younger, playing backyard parties in the SF Valley. Unless you were full punk or new wave (remember those labels?), they kicked your azz. Not a real fan, but have to be honest about what happend in

Nearly 3 months later I was born. Coincidence: let history judge.
