Has anyone heard these Is tracks going around?? if so any idea where they came from. I have a copy and it is amazing aside from the glitchy digital recording

Just curious, I have heard they were from the new VH Guitar Hero or Rock band thing

If they're from guitar hero, they're not Eddie's actual tracks.

Everything from those games was re-recorded by a session guitarist.

You're better off just learning to play that stuff yourself. ;)

I'm not sure on that. Some tunes on there are for sure the original tracks. You can't just "cover" Green Grass and High Tides.....those are the original tracks IIRC. I have not heard the VH-GH songs. On the other hand i've for sure heard other songs that were done by studio players.....

I was under the assumption that when a band signed on to GH, they were required to supply the masters, which is a big reason why Led Zep declined.

    But i'm not sure.

I thought I'd read an article in GP a while back with one of the guys who played on a lot of those tracks?

The Death Magnetic GH tracks sound better than on the album. No clipping on them.

I found this on Wiki if it helps....

In the first two games and the 2007 expansion Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, the majority of the songs on the main career mode set lists are covers of the original song; for example, a song may be presented as "Free Bird as made famous by Lynyrd Skynyrd".[73] Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock introduces a much larger range of original recordings, and World Tour featured a setlist that contained all master recordings. The covers throughout the games are mostly recreated by WaveGroup Sound who has worked before to create songs for Beatmania, Dance Dance Revolution, and Karaoke Revolution,[74] making small changes to the guitar portions to make them more adaptable for gameplay.[75] Almost all of the unlockable bonus songs are songs performed by the original artist for the game (the only exception is the song "She Bangs the Drums" by The Stone Roses, which is featured
in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock).

    And also this....

Guitar Hero: Van Halen was released on December 22, 2009,[33] though customers that purchased Guitar Hero 5 under a special promotion received a copy of the game early. Like the other band-centric games, Guitar Hero: Van Halen includes 25 songs from the band Van Halen, including 3 guitar solos by Eddie Van Halen,

I only played the game once so i'm no expert but I remember seeing "as performed by" versions being covers.

After GuitarHero III (and including some of the tracks on that game), they are all the original tracks. Prior to that, they were re-recorded by studio artists.

My kids played it all weekend. Those are the real tracks, not some session dudes.

There are some isolated tracks on youtube that sound real good and more or less have the sound of the originals. Not sure how or where they are taken from other then Beautiful girls which looks to have been from GH. Clearly has to be ED's tracks though.

Here are the ones I am referring to:

I have heard these songs hundreds if not thousands of times. That is Ed. At least on the isolated tracks that I listened to.
