Trying to learn this song accurately. Have most of it figured out, just getting muscle memory to get parts on first try/run through.

    The fill at 2:58 :

The 2nd half of it sounds like he hammers from 16th fret to 18th fret (Bb string), immediately dive bombs as he hammers, then releases bar and bends note up.....vibrato.

What the heck is he doing in the very first part? I haven't seen anyone on Youtube get it, unless I've missed a vid. Sounds like 2 weird harmonics and bar?!?

    :dunno

(The first fill after the solo is a bugger for me to get right with the pinch harmonics and phrasing too, but I know what he's doing)

Doug Steele(Sanders) has some great VH lessons up on youtube.

If you wanna get super accurate - the foremost authority on this sort of thing (that I know of) is gonna be Allen Garber(garbeaj) over at MetroAmp forum. Hit him up over there and he'll prolly PM you his personal transcription.

No way to know for sure but it almost sounds like he was going for something that didn't quite happen, then he went with it and turned it into something cool.

    That's not even close. :p

    Isn't it either.

I agree with this. The start is baffling me. It's like there's no attack to the note.

He does a great job, but didn't cover the fills on this one.

    Ok, I'll try, thanks :aok

Allen's a meticulous cat when it comes to the VH stuff. He works with Ron Dodson over there at Metro on note-for-note transcriptions.

Has shared some VH tabs with me before. Very accurate!

It's like he grabbed the bar, went for a harmonic thing but the flesh of his finger ended up muting it but not killing it entirely.

Maybe a serendipitous moment that would be difficult to reproduce.

It's a misfire - he missed the note but some how brushed the note
And then whammies it to recover.

I believe he talked about this years ago - little dreamer was a last minute
Addtition - one take - and they let it go.

All kinds of flubs on that album. I agree with the misfire, also sounds like he pulls the bar up to take the sounded note higher after the dive. He does that a lot and he's said before that he had to do that a lot to reset his tuning or string tension after diving down. I notice a lot of his dive bombs have a controlled pull up as well.

At the Metro forum, they are kinda in the "flub you can't exactly reproduce" opinion as well. Someone mentioned the way the white Frankenstrat was jacked up, and the high-E was way too close to the edge of the neck contributing. Pulled the string off the neck? :dunno

I've noticed in old live videos he always does something else. So I guess he couldn't reproduce it either :D
