Is it just me? Or is Dave really starting to look like Steve Martin?

I will not be going to see this tour.

I don't know about the Steve Martin thing, but some of Dave's stage moves made me think of Pee Wee Herman...

I'll say one thing, I dig the way Wolfie plays bass. The harmonies aren't quite there yet but he's got the family music gene for sure.

The new stuff gets better and better.

Eddie is sounding good. Dave is still sounding rough to me, but at least he's trying. There are also full versions of 3 of the songs from the new record up on YT for anyone who's interested...

BTW, looks like Ed's guitar in that clip has an ebony (or rosewood) fretboard. That's something you don't see every day.

There is only ONE Eddie and he can play.

Band it tight as they should be. Damn good stuff.

... stick a fork in em, theyre done. Their new stuff is only semi interesting, TO ME , meaning thats my own stupid opinion- it just sounds like the same ol stuff, nothing fresh or new sounding. Diamond Dave looks more like he's doing a Vegas act today more than ever before. The man is fronting one of the worlds best and most legendary hard rock bands. But the Vegas act, man that shite is tired- and his kind is not the good kind of Vegas act either, it's the kind you see at 3am in the back lounge of the seedier casinos. To me Eds best playing years are probably not behind him- but right now he seems to be just rehashing the same old rythyms and solos over and over ( reminds me of Pages playing on 'In Thru The Out Door' or his later stuff with The Firm- not as good of playing as on the older albums and a really thin tone compared to the thicker meatier tones he got out of his gear in his early years). I dont care much really for the look of Eds guitars or his new gear either, even though he gets tones that are close to his signature tone (... in the fingers, yaaa). And their harmonized vocal parts- sorry, they just dont sound right without Micheal Anthony.

... Wolfie should be out playing more modern music with kids his own age. The kid has major chops for sure, and I imagine he's a monster on guitar too and someday we'll get to see that side of him.

Sorry if it sounds like Im hating, not trying to, just being honest. I play dark, extreme, heavy music and even though I grew up listening to Sabbath and darker heavier music as a teen in southern California in the late 80s/early 90s I still liked and listened to alot of hard rock and I really loved the 1st and 2nd versions of VH. Some of the best times of my life partying, at the beach, wherever, some VH was always in the background somewhere. After those first 2 versions of the band though, not so much for me- even though I really dug the new song with Dave in the mid 90s, 'Me Wise Magic' for some reason. And Eds playing/noodleing on the movie background soundtrack to 'The Wild Life' is still to this day some of the best instrumental stuff Ive ever heard and stuff I steal from in my own playing.

I think they sound great and I can't wait to buy the new album. If I wanted something fresh and new, I'd listen to Van Hagar instead of much preferring and never getting sick of the first 6 albums. I'll take "same ol stuff" any day.

Well, he can't change who he is and he already reinvented the wheel. What more do you want?

If only modern music didn't suck. My dad was my first musical hero and mentor. He taught me how to sing, play guitar and drums. What I'd give to have one more minute on stage with him? Anything. I can't imagine any of Wolfie's friends calling him lame for playing with his old dad and uncle, in a legendary rock band.

I like his harmonies too. I also hear he's a monster on drums and piano.

Who's playing the wah pedal? I didn't see Ed's foot doing it. That kinda annoys me.

Eddie is, check out the end of the clip - it's pretty clear.

The band sounds great. Thanks for the link.

Auto Wah maybe?
The 2 gigs Ive seen on You tube has his foot using a wah btw.
As hard as I was going too be on this version of VH if all the songs were as reported too be by some Early Nay sayers boy well lets just say was I surprised as of the 1:30 clips a few days ago.
I gotta say this album is Good -Very Good and all most every song has me interested and digging in on their Regained 80's like vibe.
Not many bands can pull off going right back if not close too where they left off. And then factor in the time that has past, medical issues, changing times, old age,yadayadyada.........
But I think rather than ED and Dave writing and forcing newer today like material that most senior bands try (and fyi really doesnt always work).
The beauty here is they took songs that were wrote along with their top shelf and much accepted past material and with these guys being the accomplished performers they are you have a road map for how too make a good comeback album for the 20 plus years removed Rock Band.
Its a Great Story imo.
And why no love for Wolfie? The kid is playing his ass off and on live Youtubes for proof.
It doesnt take Ed too play for the kid. Sure he directs him on songs but Wolfie can and does play a few instruments quite well.
Now if I was in a perfect World MA would be the Bassist and Wolfie would play guitars and keyboards with Evh.
:omg
