Van halen (true story)

    TRUE story:

    My buddy was working on the VAN HALEN tour. I hope I don't get in trouble for this.

    Well, Eddie Van Hallen had a wall af his Sig amps about 15 cabs and heads.

    From the front you would never know. The Cabs Were empty and Backstage behind the amps was 1 vintage marshall JCM800 that he was running through.
    It was covered be a velvet blue curtain.

    The hope of perfect stage/monitor mixes not hampered by walls of cabs?

    I'm with ya though, I like a few cabs behind me so it feels right.

    I saw them on tour and I thought his tone was absolutely great. I went to a guitar store with my buddy a few weeks ago and played the 5150iii, and I thought to myself--there's no way he was getting that tone out of that amp. At least I couldn't get anything even remotely similar.
    That makes a lot of sense

    Maybe all the 5150 III's were on the fritz and the JCM800 was his backup...

    That's the only thing that bugged me about that band is that Ed had to hide his gear behind a wall of fluff. I mean, Pete Townsend was a real player who didn't have a prob with a stack of Hiwatts sitting there on stage ..... that added to the overall vibe of that band ..... I guess Eddie's tone was a big secret so he wasn't able to do that :dunno

    This is not uncommon. There's alot of bands that have endorsement deals and show the endorsement merch while a killer small combo or head/cab is under the stage and being piped through the monitors.

    This has been rumored to be the case since he got the p-v endorsement.

    This is common place for many artists/acts with endorsements.

    here's another secret: There is NO easter bunny!!!!! ;)

    Thats what it reminded me of too except Eddies using an 800, and the Rev is using a JMP-1 of all things unholy.
