I need an affordable tube amp head that is fairly high gain/wattage. Can I get some realistic recommendations. Can blackstars get this heavy high gain tone? I recently looked into ht-50 but so hard to tell without playing one

Check out the Engl Smolski Head. It is unlike the other Engl amps kinda aggressive/dirty with lots of useable Gain. The harmonics/overtones are crazy good, very good Master volume and its easy to play with, you dont fight the amp at all.

    Peavey vtm
    Ampeg v4
    Sovtek mig100
    Laney pro tube
    Traynor yba

2203 would be the most expensive at around 1k-1500 depending on condition, etc

I can't believe I forgot the sovtek migs. If you can find a mig 100b, grab it. My buddy had that and the normal mig 100 and a mig 60. That 100b was AMAZING for doom, which is what he played.

2203 is my pick but if price plays a factor, the AOR.
