H people , I own a 2000 VibroKing amp with the old Eminence alnico speakers ,

I think to change them to the new Jensens that comes with the new Vibros ,

I heard thouse speakers in other amps and realy likead them but I don't know how it is going to sound with my amp ...

Do you think I need that change or not ?

Any one tried them both or did that upgrade and can tell me the difference ?

Any other recommendations for a better speakers then the Jensens ?

    Thanks

I played one this past weekend with the new speakers in it. I loved it. Probably my second favorite Fender amp.

I used to have a VK and had both speakers in it. The Blueframes are fatter and the Jensens have a little more high end. Not nite and day, but certainly different.

I have a few Jensen 10's that Fender now uses in the VK laying around. Drop me a PM if you'd care to swap for your blueframes.

So I guess you don't like the Jensens at all ...

    I'd keep the eminences.

Mine has the Eminence and they're staying...if that means anything. I've played through both versions and much prefer the Eminence.

I read some threads on the Bassman RI re: Blue frame Eminences vs. Jensen P10Rs. As I remember, the majority preferred the Eminences, as do I. They definitely sound better with distortion than the Jensens.

I have a buddy that switched to the Kendrick Blackframe 10's and what a great difference that made.

I played through it last weekend and find this amp to be one of the best sounding amps I've played through recently. Vibro Kings hold their own amongst the vast array of 'boutique' amps.

Trouble is...you have to buy 3 of 'em. Not a cheap audition. It's good to have buddies with money.

Be the first kid on the block to put 10" Celestion Golds in your VK

    Many, many options:
    Weber (Lots!)
    Scumback
    Eminence (Ramrod, Ragin Cajun etc.)
    Celestion (Greenback, Gold)
    Jensen (Neo)
    Tone Tubby

Lots of threads on TGP as to what the best 10"ers are.

Thanks for the fast reply people ,

Do you know what is the DC RESISTANCE of each speaker that I need to buy in order to replace the 3 speakers ?

What is the price of the G10 GOLD and where to buy on the net ?

There are many options on the high end side for the VK. I don't have mine anymore, but did for a long time. IMHO, neither the Jensens or the Eminence are the best speaker for the VK. My favorire combo was 2 Eminece Lil Buddy's and an Eminence Copperhead.

The VK is not a high headroom amp, many people (myself included) have tried to increase the headroom of the amp by swapping speakers. You can add a small amount to headroom by swapping speakers, but the lack of headroom comes from the circuit, not the speakers. In the end, you can't make an apple an orange no matter how hard you try.

In the end, I would leave the original speakers in there. If you decide to swap, get some ceramics (btw, you need 8ohm speakers).

(And if you really want the Jensens, I have em to swap if you decide to).

I wouldn't touch one screw on my old blueframe Em's. The sound is unbelievable, perfect break up, the cream, the sizzle, the bloom, harmonic feedback, and that's straight in no pedals!

The speakers are 8 ohm in parallel which gives 2.7 = 8/3 ohms to the amp

Scumback has the 10" Scumnico speakers

I have one of the newer VibroKings, Black transitional model with white knobs, it has the Jensens in it. As I played it more the speakers broke in very nicely, it's one of my favorite amps now.

So if I'll decide to replace I have to ask for a 3 X 8 ohm speakers ?
