A serious shootout that I could use some serious input on. I currently own a Goodsell Black Dog 50 (35w) that I don't feel I am achieving the "tone-zone" I want from it because I never play loud enough for it to get there. When I am playing at church they just mic it.

I am highly considering getting a smaller combo either Victoriette or a Super 17 mark III...

What are your thoughts? Do you own one? Help me with this shoot out!

I am a Goodsell fan. I've owned a Super 17 Mark III for about a year, and just got a Goodsell Dominatrix. I love that they can get into "the zone" with the gain and master settings. Your sound man will love you!

The Super 17 is a really great amp...very versatile, and extremely portable. I can't say enough about how great both of these amps are....and I have a lot of amps to choose from similar to the Victorias (Clark Lil Bit LTD 1x12, Clark Edisto 2x10, Clark Tyger 3x10)

    Good luck on your search!

Anyone else had first hand experience with both of these?

I have a Victoriette 6L6 with a Jensen Blackbird alnico in it. Its a fantastic amp if you are looking for the ultimate blackface sound.

I'd suggest playing before you buy of course. It is not a low volume amp by any stretch of the imagination. But it takes pedals very well for OD at low volumes.

Maybe a Blackdog 20? I would email Goodsell. He is FANTASTIC to deal with.

If you're coming from a Black Dog 50, I would look at the Dominatrix 18 - same basic architecture, EL84s, tube rectified, a very similar playing experience only smaller.

Is there a trem option on the Dom18? How does it take to single coils? Would you say the super 17 is more blues and the dom18 is more rock?
