a bunch of very well done demo videos. i just got off the phone with them and they have actually made a little recording booth dedicated to demo vids. it's nice to not have to resort to youtube recordings with terrible mics etc. i'm going to offer up a few of my "beau-teek" pedals that they don't sell in order for them to record a few comparison vids. i'd doubt they will do that since they don't sell them, but it would be nice to do a giant shootout with good quality recordings.

on a side note, these guys are really great to work with. i'm not affiliated in any way other than being a really satisfied customer.

I cant listen to those videos.. The high end is so piercing, and there's no bottom heft at all, besides the guys voice.

I don't find the high end piercing at all. Then again I do have tinnitus.
The dude's voice is just fine. You're just too picky. These are some really good demos.

That Gearwire guy, otoh, drives me crazy. I don't give a flying **** about the box and packaging. Just play the damn pedal.

Those are pretty bad sounding clips, imo.

They made the rookie mistake of "just put a 57 in front of it"

If you setup an amp to sound good in a room then close mic it with a 57, it sounds pretty much like those clips, brittle and thin.

Hmmm, tough crowd...I seem to be in the minority on this one.

Since I would definitely qualify as a recording rookie, what would be the best way to record these clips then?

Not the greatest quality, but very well done IMO.

I don't see why people are complaining. The videos may not be perfect but they're better (and more thorough) than anything else on YouTube.

I never insulted the guys voice, I just said that the only time I can hear any bass is when the guy talks.. jesus..

And you call me picky? Try the hundreds of people that spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on pedals that won't really matter much when you actually get out and play for an audience that can't tell the sonic difference between metal film or poly film caps, just to get "that sound."

I think that qualifies for picky.

My mistake. I get what you were saying now.

But these are still some of the better mainstream demos out there, IMO. There is some really God-awful crap out there on YouTube.

+1 I think they're very well done- they're just to give general overviews of the gear, of couse they're going to sound better (or worse) in person. Sheesh!!

so i just stuck a sm57 in front of my amp today.

listen to that videos clean tone ... then listen to this ...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0KJAz19d2Q

i admit that visually they are better and they are more informative ... but like i said ... they are great videos ... except for the audio.

p.s. - if my mic stand was a bit shorter, i couldn't have gotten it more balanced no problem.

NO ****! Way too much treble, therefore everything sounds like crap!

It's a shame. A great idea but the guitar sound is very poor. I have some of those pedals (as does everybody else here) and they sure don't sound like that.

I agree it's a great idea. Now if they could just make clips with better audio quality. Those pedals pretty much all sound the same.

    Hi Guys,
Thank you for the constructive criticism. I bought a condensor mic for my video guy Andy, and a new mic preamp is on the way. You should hear some better sound quality on the last few videos. We will continue to improve mics and preamps etc to provide you guys with the best quality demo videos available. We actually listen to your opinions and your input is much appreciated! After all, we are doing the vids purely as a resource for all you gear hounds.
    Thanks,
