A bit embarrassed to admit it because I rank on country music a lot.

But I've seen Vince do some helacious picking on youtube - so I bought tickets for his show in September.

Am I going to be OK?

I won't come out of there wanting cowboy boots or anything will I?

(I'd wear toenail polish before I ever donned cowboy boots)

Nope. You'll enjoy some of the best playing and musicianship you've had the pleasure of witnessing.

The drummer in my band recently saw him with The Time Jumpers. This is what he said, pretty much verbatim.

Formerly known as The Sky Jumpers. :(

Just caught Vince Gill and Lyle Lovett in an all acoustic show. Just them sitting on chairs trading songs and stories. One of the best shows I've ever seen. You'll not regret going.

Vince is a true entertainer. Great picker AND singer. very funny. Even if you don't like the genre, you can't go wrong seeing him.

Wife and I saw him when he released Guitar Slinger. Bought that album, but didn't know much else about his catalog. Didn't matter. I just knew from seeing him in a few clips that he was an outstanding guitar player and entertainer. We were not disappointed. Whole band was top tier talent. Great show.

I saw Vince back when he released "These Days" several years ago. I've never seen someone perform so "perfect" live. I mean, the guy doesn't play a single sour note on the guitar and doesn't sing a sour note all night. Just an all around incredible performer.

Vince and the band are all top notch players. Make sure you attend. His playing and singing never disappoint.
I have seen him probably 25 times now over the years...No i'm not a stalker hahaha.
I used to work in the BIZ - (when there was such a thing) and got to know him and a few of his band mates pretty well.

There's nothing to be embarrassed about. I hate that folks feel this way (I know you're only joking around, btw). These are the guys you should be supporting / giving your money to. When Mark Knopfler wants you to join his band, you're a badass even it is "just country." Good music is good music, as I'm sure we'd all agree.

Have fun at show!

PS - I think what you'll walk away with is a better understanding of "real country" and just how far the stuff labeled "country" these days is from the real deal...

Vince Gill puts on one of the best shows you will ever see in your lifetime. IMO!
It doesn't matter the genre.
He gets going on solos and throws in a bunch of Allman Brothers licks and who knows what else, and is the consummate entertainer!

If Paul Franklin is playing steel with him, that is something you don't wanna miss. The playing will be outstanding. Generally speaking, top country pickers outshine rock pickers everytime. Vince is no exception.
