Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

I have a early 1900,s Gibson acoustic guitar. I have found that is a style O guitar in good condition. Has all original parts, no mods and original hard shell case. Here is a picture [IMG][IMG]
    What do think its worth?

I'll give you 200 bucks for it right now!

In all seriousness, I've seen them go for a couple of thousand or more on eBay, depending on condition. Looks like you've got a nice one there...

There's one on this page for $6850. Obviously you're a better judge of your guitar's condition than we can be from one photo. Here's one in good but not superb condition for $4500. Here's one in great shape for $7850. Keep in mind these are well-known dealers, and you're unlikely to get quite those numbers selling it on your own. You're best off having it appraised by a respected dealer whose opinion has more clout than the average guitar fan.

I have one that I bought privately for $3500. You should have no trouble getting that, maybe even 4K. 6-7K seems a little high to me, but what do I know.........

I think you're probably going to find that the $4K vicinity is about right. Yours is one of later versions with a solid headstock, probably circa 1920.

I play a close relative to yours, a Lloyd Loar era (1924) L-4:

Plays like a dream. This one will be with me 'til the end. I gig with it, too, it's a blast.

In my opinion, for what its worth, these are for the collector only. I have played quite a few and owned two but never found them to be much of a player. Sure are cool looking though.

Big Bill Broonzy sure looked like the cat's pajamas holding one...

Not sure if he tracked with that guitar, though. In my experience, they look way better than they sound. Cheers,

I've also seen a photo of Ry Cooder with a Style O Gibson as well.

A Guitar Center store in Milbury, MA had one about a year ago. I believe they were asking around $2.5K for it. I played it and found the neck to be absolutely massive. I couldn't get my hand around it and I've got big hands. Looking back, I guess that was a bargain price.
