I picked this up at a garage sale last week. Wish there had been a guitar in there as it looks plenty old.

Anyway, it looks smaller than a strat case - definitly not a musicmaster/duosonic/mustang but something w/ a short scale...

Maybe a Melody Maker? If anybody has a guess as to make / model or year I'd be much oblidged!

    I'd guess Rickenbacker...

    Not Gibson,
Why do you eliminate those Fender models? Except that the color is darker and it looks older, metal neck Kramer might be a possibility.

It's hard to tell from the photo (need a close up) but some Mosrites came in cases like that.

Every mustang/duo/musicmaster I've ever seen was grey w/ the black allegator ends and orange interior. It's definitly pre '70s - I can tell from the rust on it - it's not a Kramer.

I've seen Gibson lap steel cases from the 50's that look like this - that's why my original supposition was a melody maker.

Still a mystery - keep those guesses coming!

You shure it isn't a 50's duo-sonic or musicmaster case? The 50's duo-sonics had a very short scale. This case had the gold, but I've seen them with the red plush too.

Here is the extremely faded one from a 59 duo-sonic I once had.

You know Montz, you might be right. On mine the handle is made out of brown hard plastic - it might even be bakelite. Was yours leather or plastic?

I don't think it is - it has a neck rest in it similar to the one above. I've just never seen a Fender case w/ this kind of red plush...

Maybe it is a 50's Musicmaster / Duosonic case afterall. Sure would like to know for sure before slapping it up on ebay...

BTW/ Nmontz - how do you get your pics to show in your threads? Everytime I try to do it in photobucket it just posts the links instead of the actual pics:confused:

Are you using the little insert image button right above the reply box? Second to the right...then I paste my link in the popup box.

The handle of mine was hard plastic. I sold the guitar or I would have been able to take measurements for you.

In Photobucket under the picture to want to copy there should be 4 options.
Left click on "Direct link" and then right click and hit copy. Go back to your GP post and do the same thing on the little square yellow icon. Hit Paste.

Ahh, like so? You two are very wise - thanks for that insight. Good to hear from you JP - I am happy to say that the Deluxe Reverb you sold me a couple of years back makes me smile on a daily basis! You are a good man John and a credit to the TGP community...
