    Hello GP,

    Long time lurker, first post.
Is there any reason to avoid a vintage style strap - 1' strap with 2 - 2.5" shoulder pad - with a 9 to 10 LP? I love the look but will the weight be distributed/ carried better by a "full size strap?

A wider strap means you're gonna not feel the weight so much with a heavy guitar. I don't know the physics of how a wide pad on a 1" strap will impact things though.

For me, a 3.5" strap means I don't think about the weight of my LP at all, whereas I worried about it with a 2.5"

i like the padded pad of vintage strap better, i tried a wide strap and it doesn't works as advertised.

i used to use eldorado vintage strap when i still own my Les paul. and it works great for 3 hours gig and so on.

The only place the width matters is where it's on your shoulder, so if the pad is 2.5" then it's going to distribute the weight just like a strap that's 2.5" all the way down.
