After mowing my lawn and showering, I am sitting on my front porch listening to music and enjoying some brews.
One album(CD) I have played so far was White Lion's Pride. Excellent riffs and awesome solos. Plus the guitar tone is killer.
I still remember sitting in my room learning the Wait solo in the summer of '87. I got that solo down months before GFTPM had it tabbed. I never looked at the tab so, I don't know if it was accurate.
Point of this thread is that Vito was awesome. Played killer solos and had a great tone/sound.
Who else remembers and appreciates Vito's playing and tone?
The man simply oozed melody. :dude

Probably the most unique player of that era. Took EVH's tapping and refined it (along with Reb Beach). Great tone, too. Probably the only one from that era to use EMGs and not sound like mud.

Super melodic and huge chops. One of the best of the era I think

As others have said, one of the best of that era.

Great player in a band with a unbearable singer.
I'm not overly familiar with their material, but what i remember hearing was too "wimpy" for me- they made Bon Jovi sound like tough guys lol
Other than the hits, what songs feature Vito's best work in your opinion?

I agree Mike Tramp had a sappy vocal style. I personally didn't care for it much. However, the riffs and solos were killer.
For me Wait and When the Children Cry solos are my favorites. I dig all of Vito's riffs and solos though. Usually more than the song.

the entire pride album is full of incredible playing. I like their first record, 'fight to survive' as well. bratta's sound and playing--particularly his rhythm style changed a good bit from their debut to pride.
tramp wasn't a gifted vocalist, but I thought his voice went well with pride. he sounds like a kid on fight to survive.
I got to see white lion 3 times in support of pride. once with kiss & twice with aerosmith. each time was a guitar clinic. bratta made everything look effortless. I don't think the guy ever broke sweat.

Amazing player who appeared to be able to play whatever he thought about.
Trouble was as great as Bratta was -- his band lack any defining character.
A Bit like Bryan Adams married Bon Jovi and Van Halen -

Ultra tasty player. Little Fighter is a masterpiece of playing; plus it's a great song too. (I wonder if most people know what the song is about?)

I would put Vito Bratta in the top 20 best guitar players I have ever heard. Vito would probably even make my top 10 list.

Vitto, Beach, and Steve Lynch are probably my 3 favorite tappers ever.

    Solo starts at about 3:10.

I was trying to describe Vito's playing to my girlfriend. Melodic, kinetic and unpredictable was the best way I could put it.

Melodic is the one word I'd choose. Tasteful too. Too bad about his injury. Would love to hear where he'd be at these days.

The thing about Vito was that if you tuned the radio in during the guitar solo, you still knew what band it was before the vocals kicked back in. He had his own thing going on, and it was very cool.

Glad you love him. He was absolutely great. . He and Nuno had lots in common.. Nuno is still at it though, continuing with Extreme, forming his own bands, and back with Extreme and doing GenerationAxe type shows. . Vito is nowhere to be found .. .SAD!!!! Eric
