I know that I've been promising a Voxer clip for a LONG, LONG time. Well, the moment has arrived for me to make good on my promise. However lame the clip may be, here it is in all its glory (or lack of it thereof).

Here's a link to a quick clip I made this afternoon while the Mrs. was out shopping. I used the Santanaesque track I got from Glasman.

Amp=Gabriel Voxer through the Vox/EF86 side
Cab=Germino 2x12 open back with reissue Greenbacks
    Guitar=Greenwich Village 53 Blackguard Tele

I used my brand-spankin' new Mackie Onyx 400F for the recording. This is my maiden voyage with the Onyx, so hopefully I'll get a little quicker as time goes on. Oh, and I added a little splash of 'verb to make it not so dry.

Sounds very good indeed great tone and playing. Maybe i bit more refined than i would have expected from an amp like that. Sounds a bit lika Lerners SLX tone but a rootsyier. Maybe it's you're playing thats refined..
In short exelent, thanks for posting :)

Thanks abergdahl! Yes, it's a little more rude in the room, but I guess the mic does not lie. It could be the Tele that's making it more refined sounding. I don't have a humbucker guitar at the moment, but I bet that would push it over the top.

Thanks Ubered! Yes, the GV guitars are out of sight. After getting mine, it has really turned my guitar collection on end. Well, it's my only electric guitar right now! :p

    Xray,

Thanks! You are a lucky guy! The rosewood model is on my want list at the moment.

Very nice. I like that tone and the playing! I think it is very similar to Scott's, but yours has a little more edge on it, a little brighter. It sounds good!
BTW, I never heard of those amps......must have been sleeping.

    Thanks adlibmusic, ChazMania, and refin!!!

I'm just getting back into recording after several years off. I am really stunned by how easy it is with the new breed of firewire interfaces out there. This Mackie is a breeze and sounds great!

It's funny that you guys hear some of the SLX tone in there. I heard that too. I mean these amps couldn't be further away from eachother!? The Fuchs are fixed bias (except for the ODS30) and use master volumes and 12AX7/6L6 tubes and the Voxer is cathode bias, non master, and uses EF86/EL84 tubes. Cool that such different amps can sound similar. I LOVE the Fuchs amps too. That will probably be my next amp. I just cannot decided which one! :D

Tha Gabriel amps can be found over at www.gabtone.com Great amps made by a great guy.

    Hi Cocheese,

I also like the sound AND the playing.
Any player who can make a Tele sound fat like that deserves my admiration. Regardless what amp. This amp obviously likes you and vice versa. Cool take -> cool music!

    Cheers,

    Mats N

Very Tele indeed, I am missing my old one, this does not help hehe.
Make a longer clip soon by the way....digged that sound.

journo and Rid... Thanks and I'm glad that you guys enjoyed it. I'd play some longer clips, but I keep waiting for the vocals to come in and give my hands a rest! :p Actually, I have not been playing nearly as much as I should and my fingers were hurting pretty bad! This is the coolest playing, looking, and sounding Tele around. Jonathan is a true master. The Gabriel, well...it just suits me just right. If I had this amp 10 years ago, it would have saved me A LOT of time, effort, and money! :D

Dang Splatt/ScottL...I really appreciate it! You guys are my two favorite clip-makers 'round these parts. I need to make some more recordings after the holidays are over. Now comes the cool part; actually making music with some of this gear. Imagine that!

    Will do Scott. Email incoming.

Sweet! I love that purring, growling tone. I had to grab my own '53 GV after hearing that clip. I wonder if Gabriel makes a 30 watt version of the Voxer?
