Does anyone have any information as to when the new Apogee Mic will be available for purchase?

Customer (No)Service at Apogee is clueless.

hahahaha...yeh...thats why i just got the original duet from turramurra music cheap because they were "making space" for the duet 2...that being said, i think they're selling it now for $599, no idea if they have them in stock though, its definitely in their catalogue, personally i feel the $499 for the original duet is a better deal

There are lots of samples on the web. Nothing that really represents a production capture but I will dig them up and post. I will probably pick it up this month when sweetwater notifies me they are in stock.

I wonder how well this would work to mic an amplifier.

I received an announcement of new (and yet to be released) audio products from B&H yesterday, looks like Blue is also making a mic for the iPad/iWhatever too.

Also interested in how it works on more aggressive/higher SPL sources like this.

Well - I went ahead and preordered one from sweetwater. I am going to directly A/B this against my hobby setup which includes a Neumann TLM102 into a USBPre2. I only track vocals, acoustic, and some guitar cabs so I will see if it sounds convincing enough.

For $200 I imagined it would sound cheap and thin but Apogee follows that high volume cost savings model (plus they probably can strip down and reuse designs from the One and other devices) so I also wouldn't be surprised if it kills all the other little USB mics in its price range too.

Here is a good clip Apogee posted:
    [SOUNDCLOUD]http://soundcloud.com/apogeedigital/recording-an-entire-song-with[/SOUNDCLOUD]

"This song was recorded entirely with Apogee MiC into GarageBand on an iPad.
The band is Wise Cub and the song is called Motions.

    Did you get yours yet?

I ordered one too, expecting they would have them around the end of february. No luck yet.

I wonder if anyone else has them in stock.

Sweetwater has been calling me with updates. They said they have a backorder of about 50+ orders but have only got 2 shipments of 5 or fewer units. They said they are supposed to get a large batch and I should see mine next week but they also said the same thing once in the past. Basically they claim Apogee tells them 50 more are coming and then only ships them 4.

Apogee has had a lot of trouble with this product since it was announced last year at winter Namm 2011 for spring 2011, then delayed to coming soon, and so on.

Hopefully its worth the wait. I have my "the new" ipad coming Friday so I hope its not longer now.
