Wow. I was getting a haircut this past weekend and heard this song by Mark Cohn for the first time in about 5-6 yrs in the shop. What a GREAT song! Maybe the best 1 hit wonder of all time. Haven't had it out of my head for 2 days and I'm not complaining. [IMG]

Can't believe its almost 20 yrs since it came out. :jo

    Whats Mark been up to?

Mark's one of those guys I seem to like other people doing his songs more than him. The exception being that tune. Great one.

I Love Jo Dee Messina's take on 'Silver Thunderbird'

    Great lyrics with his stuff.

I read somewhere that he was carjacked several years ago and got shot in the head.

He's fine though, just saw him a month or so ago. Great perfomance.

Mark Cohn is a great songwriter. His albums are also great. I know he had more than one hit and for the life of me dont know why he is not much more popular than he is.
    Always liked his music.

I'll have to confess, I hated this song when it came out. But it was seriously overplayed so that might have been part of the problem. I like it OK now.

I went through an all-too-brief period of learning a couple/three piano songs on guitar.

    This was one of them.
    Just challenging enough.
    Built around sus2 voicings, IIRC.

my "cool story bro" - I was actually walking on Beale Street the first time I heard that song.

That was a good album with 3-4 good, listenable songs.. but my FAVORITE Cohn song and all time favorite bass solo - is this right here... Jeff Pevar is a beast.
