Ok, I love the deep, dark, fat, round sounds of: SRV, clean Hendrix, John Mayer, Robert Cray...

But I still want that singing, crying, vocal tone of the Dumble amps...

Now, If I had the money, the clear choice would be "Go buy a Two Rock". But, I dont, and probably wont for a while now.

Is there anything being made that fits my needs, but wont require me to rob a bank?

    Maybe a Fuchs with 6L6's?

Almost perfect base tone would be the cleans/skanky cleans from Lou V's Dumble ODR.

Always single coils, lookin for that soulful vibe that can tear it up when you throw some dirt at it.

You all know what im talkin about, lol.

save the cash, buy the Two Rock.

Do it once, do it right, never buy an amp again.

you get that amp and youll never look for another amp ever again. i suggest you look for used ones on ebay or something

of course the fact that the amp itself is "used" shows that the two-rock may not actualy be the amp the guy will buy and "...never buy an amp again"...

my suggestion: Since all 4 of those guys you mentioned played fender amps. i'd say get a fender and then something like the zendrive for your singing note runs. Just makes sense to me instead of getting caught up in the romance of big names and big expensive amps.

When I think of the artists you mentioned, I don't hear deep, dark or fat, sounds more like my ex, lol!:rotflmao No, seriously those guys have bright fender tones in my opinion, the D-inspired amps are a bit smoother in the cleans, a little too polished although Mayer got some skanky strat tones from his Custom though.

Suhr OD100 Classic. The clean channel will do those clean sounds and then morph into a great lead tone.

    So,

Checked out the Kinglsey amps and I seriously had to change the pants. The sexiest, smoothest, most amazing cleans ever.

Now If I could only find a used Deluxe 30...

I thought the thread topic was "6l6 DREAM tone?" The Kingsely Classic 30 is a Vox inspired el84 amp.....
