It's a classic horror, but certainly not an academy award nominee.

It's a great creepy, suspenseful movie. Still holds up.

Many, MANY years ago, when I was a teen, I was perusing the video store's selection with my best friend at the time. We were looking for something to watch. It was one of those crazy evenings where EVERYTHING was out! After about 40 min of desperately looking for something, I thought it'd be cool to reminisce and rent a VHS tape of the ThunderCATs.

Hre had never seen it but I was hyping it for him. My heart just about broke when the first couple of minutes of the show played on the TV. I remembered it as being action packed, beautiful, fun, and suspenseful. What we got was crappy art and the worst scripts and voice-acting I have ever heard. A robot could have emoted better.

It became an inside joke, whenever I would reference something as being great. He'd mention the ThunderCATs thing and I'd automatically lose that argument. lol!

Yep....still creeps me out. One of very few movies I've seen in my life I find disturbing.

Sam Neill would creep me out at his childs birthday party. Something about him scares the wits out of me.

I liked it a lot way back when----I'll have to watch it again. I thought it had a lot of imagination as an atypical sci-fi horror script re: the whole impending/aggressive gateway/worm-hole to whatever that malevolent other dimension was (my head went to a Miltonic place with it, and I thought of it as the hungry and hateful realm of the Great Anarch Chaos and his impenetrable and all-obscuring consort Night---but maybe that's just me).

And that recording revealed the pure madness inherent in the orgiastics of Chaos, the possessed/"liberated" literally annihilating themselves/their vehicles of flesh and sensation, all elements of being at war with each other and themselves at the atomic/sub-atomic level.

Yes, the creepiness factor was very high. At the end, where he gets a glimpse into the other side; those few seconds truly messed me up (and that was edited from the original footage, which apparently was longer and more disturbing...if that is really possible).

In the end, I viewed this movie more as a psychological / supernatural thriller and less as a "horror" film. I wish there were more movies like it. Sunshine comes to mind, and seems to borrow from a lot of the Event Horizon themes and approach.

That part where the video of the crew going to hell or whatever in the begining was highly disturbing when I first saw it:red

Funny because I thought that "Event horizon" and "Sunshine" are two of the worst sci-fi movies I've had the displeasure to watch...
