Just got a little Tascam Dp-004 and would like to know what works well. Some seem free and some are not. What are you using?

    Thank you.

I use Foobar2000 with the LAME mp3 encoder. It's generally recognized as the best around. Use a high bitrate, up above 256 kbits, and you'll be really hard pressed to tell the difference between that and the original CD. Both Foobar2000 and the LAME encoder are free. For ripping CDs, I recommend EAC (Exact Audio Copy), also free.
