    Hi guys,

I have GAS and I am sure most of us do in varying degrees, but here is another topic entirely that is very related.

I have to play every day. If it is for 5 minutes or an hour..I have to make that connection to the guitar. If things are real busy, i'll strum it dry.
The other night was the first night in years that I couldn't touch it, and I felt aweful.
It felt like something was out of place and until I could rectify it the next day, things wouldn't feel the same until that happened.
Anyone else out there feel this way to?
Take care and all the best,
    Mass

I know what you mean. I have found, in very desparate situations, that evan a broomstick kind of helps. Really!!

I always carry fresh picks in my wallet.

You never know when you are going to score with a 6-string beauty!

    LOL!!!!

I am not the only one...thank God! :AOK
I am not kidding on this issue though,
    If I cannot play, I am not right..it's uncomfortable.

Maybe we should properly title the condition.
    Peace,
    Mass

Me too. I'm always playing unplugged whilst watching TV. I have guitars strewn all over the house and it is difficult just to walk past one.

    best, Pete.

Best way to unwind after a crap day. (Helps to crank the gain and volume too)

most definitely. In fact, if I don't get to practice hard for at least one or two hours a day, I get grumpy.

Yeah, I have guitars all over the place. Whether it be a steel string, electric, classical, or even lap steel, I need to play something. I also have an array of picks on me at all times. I also carry around my slide more often than I should. You never know when it could come in handy!

actually, it would seem to be related to a slight compulsion for a certain habitual activity, i guess it would qualify as a vise...and i don't mean this in a bad way as you can spend your time in much worse pursuits...but in the case of exercise junkies, they become agitated when they are unable to work out and do their routine....i guess it's all about balance but it's must better to be a bit anxious about missing a favorite activity like playing a guitar than truly dangerous or addictive activities...rock on!:RoCkIn

Same with me... even if it is a couple of fingerpicking arpeggios on the acoustic before I go to bed.

There have been a couple of nights here and there where I haven't got to play at all, but it always registers with me - "Hey, you didn't play today, no wonder you have so much nervous energy"

I also always have picks in my pocket, 3 at the very least, of my favorite sizes for acoustic and electric JUST incase I run into a guitar shop, a party with an acoustic being passed around, a friend who asks to jam on the spot or any other situation (excuse:D) to pick one up.

I don't feel quite as bad if I miss a day though (rare as that is) because I usually get 4 to 6 hours of practice in every weekend. Also along with Guitar, I play Cello, Drums, Piano and Bass... even if I don't play guitar, their is a 100% chance that I at least touched something musical that day.

I completely relate though... I feel really empty if I don't get to do something creative/musical everyday.

Its great to see all of this feedback.
I have a friend that is an artist, and she says that no matter what she has to paint once a day, even for a little while.
It is really a part of who we are.
Thats what I am getting out of this.
I don't think it is compulsion, I think it is a healthy nessecity.
    Peace,
    Mass

Every day without fail...I carry a guitar on all my trips, which has led to some very interesting jams.
