Well, I'm done

I'm waiting for a few pedals to be released (in parentheses below), but after I get them, I'm done. The others I have now and on the board. The design is complete.

Life, travel, guitars, basses, amps, mics, plug ins, audio gear, furniture, and more travel call. So really, I'm done. This is after probably hundreds of pedals and many boards over 8 years since the madness began. I'm not into modulation, but I am VERY into gain staging and gain colors.

No pic possible before April, but here it is:

Guitar > Vertex Axis wah > 6 position NOS germanium treble booster made by Stan Day in Boston > Menatone PoPo fuzz > T1M buffer > TC Polytune Mini > SP compressor > Kingsley Page boost > Hermida Dover Driver > (Vertex Dynamic Distortion) > Kingsley Harlot > Vertex D-prototype > Menatone King of the Britains Mk3 with custom color > Menatone Top Boost in a Can Mk3 with custom color > (swap in Menatone Dirty Blonde Mk3) > (Vertex Boost/buffer) with Vertex Volume/Expression patched in > Strymon Timeline with DMC-3 midi controller controlling patch up, down and tap and a T1M mini fixed expression switch to toggle between parameters for each patch > Neunaber Stereo Wet reverb with two T1M MFE's with side knobs facing front >> amp.

PT2, PP2+, a few wall warts, 3M dual lock, Lava solderless cable (might switch to Evidence someday). As it happens, everything is black, charcoal, gunmetal, raw aluminum, white or off white.
And the ergonomics are off the hook good.
And I still need a Mono Tour bag.
Just a few things to fill in.
Bliss.

I'm building a new board right now that once it's done, will be a serious foot-down commitment style build due to the way I'm running the cabling, it won't be easy to swap much on it, but I'm perfectly happy with everything on it and want to move on to other things anyway.

It won't be impossible, but it will purposely create a built-in 'pause' of sorts.

I hear ya mate.
Aside from a rotating fuzz, my board hasn't changed in 18 months.

How boring! :aok

For me the goal is not to be "done."

It is to keep finding interesting sounds.

It's not a project with milestones and completion criteria, ya know?

Hey Slope! We are both big Menatone fans (although somehow I am down to just my Dirty Blonde now) so I have always been very interested in your opinions on this board for years. I got to that "I'm done" point two years ago and, at least with my gig board, I am satisfied. Thing is are we really ever "done"? I finally caved and bought a PTD Bone Machine which led me to buying a PTD Tornita!KS. Then I decided to put together a fuzz/echo board for home fun and bought a BMF GeSpot, Soulbender, MJM London Fuzz, and Echorec and looking at grabbing a Belle Epoch (unless Fulltone actually releases his Solid State Tape Echo/ EP3 clone) and/or possibly buying another RE-20.
I no longer buy and sell pedals like crazy anymore but I am fine with the fact that I will never be "done". I do wish you well though!

For me, there is a milestone for at least a palette of tones, but I can definitely agree with you that there are always new sounds to create/explore.

Hey man. I hear ya. Of course I'll someday somewhere buy a pedal. But I've been able to commit to my wife, my home, my sofa, several guitars, silverware, audio gear, car, pets, etc. for long periods of time. I don't know why a board would be any different. Neil Young's been done for years. I found what I'm looking for, it works for me and takes in all the (electric guitar) music that's been in my head for 53 years. It will help me record the 8 album backlog of material that I hope to record before I'm deaf, blind, and arthritic. That's the focus, not a pedal hobby. Time to stop, or at least slow down dramatically. But it's all good. And it's fun. Next up are a 50's Martin O-18 and a 3 Monkeys Orangutan Jr. And a classical guitar. And a Lowden. And a Royer R121... ... ...
