What 12ax7 is this?

    It's on the verge of going microphonic in V2 of my Deluxe Reverb but it still works and sounds glorious. There are no markings anywhere except on the bottom (a square with 27 inside it).[​IMG][/IMG]

    Wow. Thanks, cap. I can't recall how I got this tube. I know it sounds redundant, but this is a very musical sounding tube. Gotta get some more.

    Dobbs if it is going microphonic, try using it in a head if you have one. The combo cab vibrates the tubes and exascerbates the situation. It may be also saved with those rubber rings that fit around the tube to keep it from vibrating.

    Yes - the ribbed-plate kind, which are usually less expensive than the smooth-plate version.

    Thanks, guys. I'll try the rings. I have some. Maybe it can work happily in my Bassman head.
