Doesn't matter. My McCarty sounds great through any amp. I've played it with a '70's Sears SS amp, a Bugera V22, and hand wired custom made boutique one-offs. They all sounded pretty good with the McCarty. It's a pretty versatile guitar, sound wise.

I have a McRosie with RPs and a HBII with 57/08s. Sounds really good with my BadCat tone cat. I didn't care for the dragon II treble and Duncan sh-2n that were in the McRosie when I got it. Didn't sound very good with the ac30 I was playing at the time and they clipped the input of my eventides...

You can use a PRS with any amp ever manufactured.

What type of music do you play so the choices can be dialed in?

My main guitar is a '95 Standard 24. I've been using Ampeg V2s and V4s for forever with Les Pauls. When I first got the PRS a couple years ago the stock HFS and vintage bass pickups didn't sound good to my ears with vintage Ampeg. I swapped out the HFS and Vintage Bass for Bareknuckle Black Dogs...It totally opened the guitar up and now sounds like a dream come true through. With that said, I absolutely love the Dragon and Dragon II pickups.

I'll also echo other posters that PRS through Mesa is always good as well.

I am using 2 Mccarty Models thru either a Mesa Nomad 45W 1X12 Combo or a Blues Jr.

My band mainly does Classic Rock/Blues/Funk and R&B

I use channels 1 (Clean) and 2 (Crunch) on the Mesa and only throw in a Tube Screamer or Chorus pedal as needed by the song. Ch 2 is set to a nice medium crunch.

For the Blues Jr I use it clean and then use an OCD or Tubescreamer for my Drive sounds.

I have gotten nice compliments on both set ups.

My CU 22 goes to either my Masonette or 62 Super or 61 Deluxe depending on the gig and what I need at the time.

I use a JCM 2000 DSL100, and a Krank Rev 4x12 mostly. But I also have a Bugera 333 and a Peavey Windsor Studio I use with it some times.
    I have a PRS CE22 with dragon II's

Ok, some really great responses. Thank you. Now the purpose of this madness. Obviously, with a new PRS I'm just interested in what others find a good amp to pair with it. But my underlying motive was to see if I could identify some trends with this particular type of PRS. Here's what strikes me:

This guitar will probably sound good with a lot of different amps. The variety of amps mentioned is impressive. That's reassuring. Some of you really insist on a pickup change, but I really don't want to do that (yet).

As for what I did spot, the Mesa Boogies seem to come up more than most. That's interesting b/c I was very much interested in the 5:25, but concerned about possible lack of cleans. I also see the Shiva come up. Would love that amp. Just more than I can spend.
