What are the essentials for studio??

Hi guys,

me and my bandmates wanna build our own studio for both practice and recording. It's gonna be our first studio and honestly we have no clue.... so guys we seriously need your advice! What are the essentials? Thanks!

We currently have the following:

Instruments (guitars, bass, drums)
Amplifiers (guitar amps, bass amps)
Drum set
Shure SM57 X 1
M-Audio firewire solo X 1
Macbook Pro X 1

these are all we have right now.

I know we will need extra mics, speakers and mixers. It'd be great if you can give us some suggestions. (Mid-price level is good, can't afford professional stuff)

I'd get something like a Mackie Onyx 16-ch board, which will allow you to multi-track directly from.

A half dozen SM57s

A good kick mic

A good pair of small diaphragm condenser mics

A good large diaphragm condenser mic

Monitors

Stands/cables
