I just heard about the Vapor Trails Remix - which thankfully fixed the awful original brick wall nastiness of the initial release of Vapor Trails IMO.

    The Mahavishnu Orchestra ~ Apocalypse
    with the London Symphony Orchestra
    Columbia, 1974

Wiki: It was produced by George Martin, who regards it as “one of the best records [he has] ever made”.

I saw this in concert in '74, McLaughlin had a n 11 pc. orchestra that he toured with that had Jean-Luc Ponty, Ralph Armstrong, Michael Walden and others. A stunning show!

I saw this band over two consecutive nights in the Wash DC area. Got backstage courtesy the drummer I was playing with at the time, who was friends with Michael Walden.

McLaughlin gave me maybe an hour of undivided attention / conversation each night, even with plenty of other people backstage. And what a great band.

Terrific, Master John is an amazing human! I finally met him at a 4th Dimension show in Tucson at our hotel restaurant and he was a total gentleman. The first thing I had to tell him was that my first John McLaughlin concert was on the "Birds of Fire" tour in '73 in Chicago and he answered me with something like "yeah, we really tore it up then" with a big grin and preceded to introduce me to his Eastern Indian friend which was Solvik Dutta founder of Abstract Logix a super nice fellow that I spent time talking to later that evening along with Gary Husband.

This whole show is great, but I was very impressed by John's take on the classic Beatles "Julia"
