Dr. Z Maz 38 Sr w/Reverb. Legendary tone & perfect compliment to my plexi
I just had the same amp w/the same mods. It's f'n awesome. I only got rid of it to get my current Fargen Mighty Plex, but that RK is one of the best amps I've ever had. I will miss it.
Snider New Jersey
Two Wreck Rocket-kinda build
+1 on this. I've owned the same pair for years. I love those amps!
Bad Cat Alley Cat
Vox AC30 and ac 15... Orange OR-15 Head,,, Marshall 2061x, and 18 watt combo... Bang for buck AC30 and OR15..., The current AC30's for the money chime and rock with a really nicMV, the OR15 through a marshall greenback 4x12 kills...
TopHat Club Royale 2x12 with greenback and Weber blue dog
Dr. Z ZWreck.
I've owned 2 Blues Juniors (wish I kept the first one, it was made in Corona, CA, not Mexico).
I had a Mesa Maverick 1 x 12, which I used to gig and it sounded great! One problem, I could not get a good sound of it in the house, it was just too loud and did not sound good at low volumes. I tried 2 different attenuators and sold both of them too.
I had a Mesa 5:25 Express (1rst generation) which I really liked until my next amp purchase, so I sold it along with my Tweaker 15, Mesa Maverick and HRD.
I currently own and love a Bad Cat Cub IIR which is never going anywhere. If I can make the room and sell something else, I may consider buying another Bad Cat, which, for me, has been the ultimate new amp GAS Killer! I run either the Carr Rambler (6L6) or Fender SS22 (6V6) in stereo. I like them, just not as much as the Cub IIR. But together, they seem to compliment one another.
If I were to gig again, my first choice would be the Cub II, but any of the above 3 would do. I wouldn't bother playing in stereo.
I just picked up a SUPRO SAHARA 25 (zinky) for my XMAS present.
It has el84 tubes and is a sweet amp
iz it the BEST el84 amp ?
uhhh, don't know
MATCHLESS probably makes the best el84 amps
But, I really liked the tone of the Vox AC151HTV
I personally LOVE 6V6 amps
Can't remember if I responded earlier but:
Budda SuperDrive 30
TopHat King Royale
I doubt if it's because it uses EL84s per se, but I really dig the Reason SM40.
I had and tried a lot of EL84 amps over the years, and many different flavors, but my current favorite is my Dr. Z Maz Jr.
Dr Z Prescription Jr
Goodsell Super Seventeen Mark Four .
I've got a 68 Traynor YGM-3 that I really like and I used to have a Vox V-15 that was really cool. the Vox lacked top end and sounded kind of dark but it had that distinct Brian May Vox grind.
