So yesterday I decided to risk my life and head over to the Walmart in a questionable part of town. they had a sale on the SUPER CHEAP TCL 32 inch ROKU TV. I know this brand has been around for a bit now and just wanted to update my back room TV. so far, this thing is really nice for 120.00 bucks. at this price I can just toss it and replace if it goes bad after the warranty.

I have it going with my Spectrum App, Philo TV and a few other apps. Plus, this TV has a built-in EPG that works great for my antenna in the attic. so not only can I get my free OTA channels, I can see a guide up to two weeks for each channel, like 60 of them.

So as far as ROKU, what Apps/channels do you use?

Yeah, not bad at all for free. if it wasn't for the wife having to have 5000 channels of cable, I'd make Roku and my antenna work for all my needs.

I bought a nice used Roku tv off craigslist. My question is...is there a way to have it go straight to TV when turned on versus seeing the Roku menu?

My Roku is integrated on the TV already. I can go to settings, POWER and have it to boot to TV input instead of the home screen. I had an old Roku like yours and it was too annoying to wait for it to load each time. are you sure you're not talking about the TV input selection on your TV remote?

Criterion, Shudder, and Amazon. (Youtube TV is great for college football)

Only one I have that hasn't been mentioned is Sling, but I have that because I don't have cable. But thanks for the thread, I'm going to check some of these others out...

Pressing roku's home button turns on the tv and lands you on the app list. Is that what you're looking to do?

I was wanting to skip the apps and directly see the tv/satellite tv when I turn it all on. Maybe in power settings?

I have Philo TV, we love it. 58 channels and tons of on-demand for 20 bucks a month. you can try it for free 7 days......so if sling gets old, check it out.

If you have TV/satellite, why even select the Roku? if it's like my old Roku..I had to turn on the TV first anyway, then change the input to Roku when I wanted to use it. I'll say this, if you go get ones of the Roku TV's....you'll wonder why you ever messed with the stick.

I see, then on mine it's settings/system/power/about..then select power on and the option is there to power up to an input. have mine on antenna right now.

There's an HGTV channel on Roku, Netflix has a lot of HGTV-like shows too, some reality shows, imports of other network shows like Breaking Bad/Walking Dead/Mad Men, and you can subscribe to HBO Go to get all their content (which is $6 or $14/month or something).

You could even buy a Roku box, which only sets you back less than one month of Cable cost, and you can check all the channels out. Then the conversation becomes easy "hey, we've paid $120/month for this cable and we can get Netflix on the Roku for $8/month (single tv version). That's $112 in shoes every month." .... or a new $1,300 Guitar the first year, and the second year, and the third year ...
