Other cities have had bigger bands, but few cities have had as many influential bands/solo artists as Minneapolis- Bob Dylan, The Replacements, Husker Du, The Jayhawks and Prince.

Seattle is no slouch either: The Ventures, The Sonics, Heart, Queensryche, Hendrix, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Bing Crosby, and of course the '90s bands: Soundgarden, Alice, PJ, Nirvana, Mother Love Bone, Duff McKagan is from Seattle, so could throw a good chunk of GnR in there.

Are you saying Neil Young from Ontario, Robert Cray from Georgia, Van Morrison from Florida, and Santana from Mexico didn't front bands in S.F. and call the bay area home. This thread has nothing to do with where they were born. Santana has lived in San Francisco since the early 60s, he's even a US citizen. Now, Jerry Garcia was born in S.F.

Joan Baez was a slip up, but she has called the bay area home.

Hey, I'm claiming Bing Crosby for the bay area. He lived many years in Hillsburough on the bay area peninsula. So ba ba ba boom.
